Proving again that EasyScan is the smartest retina camera on the market.

At the Academy in Phoenix i-Optics introduces fantastic new features to its EasyScan compact confocal SLO retinal imaging system: EasyConnect, for easy and secure information sharing; and EasySupport, for online remote system support wherever and whenever required.

The introduction, at the American Academy of Optometry 2012 meeting, in Phoenix, AZ, underlines i-Optics’ commitment to ongoing innovation for a system that is gaining rapid traction in the market. “EasyScan continues to fulfill all its promises,” says Dr. Steven Squillace OD, referring to EasyScan’s speed, ease-of-use, patient friendliness, and the high quality of its confocal dual SLO images.

EasyScan offers a number of benefits over traditional fundus cameras making it better for patients, better for clinical practices of all sizes, and essential for affordable healthcare. Patients love EasyScan for good reasons. For one, they can now have their eyes imaged in only a few minutes. The confirmed zero-dilation technology spares the patient all the hassle surrounding mydriasis, such as waiting time and blurred vision. Patients can drive their car immediately after imaging. EasyScan it is the most patient friendly system on the market.

Diagnostic practices benefit because the compact EasyScan confocal dual scanning laser ophthalmoscope enables every center to offer outstanding diagnostic care, regardless of its size and budget. EasyScan’s small, desktop-size footprint means it literally fits on every table, and it is so easy that anyone can learn to make a good image fast. Being confirmed zero-dilation, EasyScan can image through pupils as small as 2 mm, cutting handling time and costs. “Now we are adding to its benefits with the introduction of EasyConnect, which makes reviewing and grading retinal images off-site easier than ever, and still secure. In addition, it makes setting up a secure network of multiple EasyScans and review stations a matter of simple plug-and-play,” says Jeroen Cammeraat, CEO of i-Optics. “Mobility, scalability, connectivity, literally everything is as easy-as-it-gets with EasyScan.”

Retinal imaging made fast, easy, patient friendly, and affordable

With aging populations and the growing occurrance of diabetes, countries throughout the world face a rapid increase in the incidence of retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Early diagnosis and timely treatment of eye disease are crucial to preventing blindness. Unfortunately, most traditional fundus cameras are unfit to diagnose these conditions in a simple, patient-friendly and affordable manner. EasyScan was designed especially for this purpose. It enables each practice to offer state-of-the-art diagnostic care based on confocal dual SLO image quality that was previously limited to systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars more. Finally, a range of flexible business models like EyePrevent, with a pay-per-patient payment model, help eye care specialists cope with growing demand in a challenging business environment.

i-Optics is dedicated to innovating for and with their customers, and it does so at high speed. “Collaboration is in our DNA,” says Jeroen Cammeraat. ”Listening to our customers’ needs and ideas is essential for us to keep our promise.”

EasyScan smart retinal camera receives CFDA approval

Geplaatst op 08-01-2015

Good news for millions of eye care patients in China.

i-Optics is happy to announce that its Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope (SLO) EasyScan has got approval from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) and is ready to be marketed in China.

EasyScan is a highly innovative imaging device from i-Optics, a specialist eye diagnostics company. The company pioneers smart and superior imaging systems that are affordable, fast and user-friendly for care providers worldwide to serve their patients best.

EasyScan employs SLO technology for high quality retinal imaging. Benefits of the SLO technology include: no dilation (for an efficient workflow and non-medical staff can operate the device), greater contrast than a fundus camera and better penetration of media opacities such as cataract and multiple retinal tissue images.

Traditional fundus cameras used to diagnose these conditions are large, exclusive, and expensive, as well as being slow and difficult to use. EasyScan has been designed from the ground up to solve all these problems. Thanks to the use of green and infrared laser technology it can image through pupils as small as 1.5 mm. And there is never any need for dilation, providing optimal patient comfort. With EasyScan the patients waiting time is reduced by at least 30 minutes and they can drive home immediately after being examined.

In addition to the SLO benefits another benefit of EasyScan is its compact design; it fits in every office space and with a weight of less than 11kg, it opens up high-end eye care to patients all over the country.

This is good news for eye care patients in China such as the 114 million1 diabetes patients and 493,4 million 2 people with pre-diabetes in China, because early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial to prevent blindness.

We are excited about the opportunity to serve the Chinese market and contribute in preventing vision loss by offering the smart eye diagnosis tool EasyScan, that costs less, performs better and is developed with the healthcare consumer in mind.
